The bug builds resilience

Cold winter mornings when it's small, straight, onshore, and grey makes it difficult to suit up and get out there. However those with the bug convince themselves that it only takes one wave, or one turn to make the session worth it and head for a southern corner out of the wind

The nice thing about cold mornings and less than favourable conditions is the lack of crowds. At least if one with a corner does pop-up, you're not having to contest for it. The other way of looking at session is that it could be flat or even worse tomorrow.

9 times out 10 you'll get a wave that, ok wasn't long with multiple turns, but fun regardless, it might be racing a section, throwing a large bucket, or even a little cover-up. The point is you get rewarded for making the effort and you feel good about yourself—on bigger days the feeling is heroic, like you've battled big seas and survived.

And when the session is done, getting dry and warming up with a coffee puts you in great mood and sets up the day ahead.

Get your Bug-on and toughen up.
